Assignment Brief:

Task One

 

1)    Compliance, identification and internalisation – Explain each and give an example of each (a.c.1.2) (450 words)

2)    Types of conformity and theoretical models – Describe informational and normative compliance and evaluate 2 models of conformity (a.c.2.1) (700)

3)    Increasing conformity and resisting pressures to conform – describe factors increasing conformity and evaluate Asch’s variations on his (1951)  line experiment (a.c.3.1 and 3.2) (600)

4)    Social power and obedience – Evaluate at least two research studies from different theorists on Power and Obedience, e.g methodological and ethical issues (make sure you outline the ethical issues) (a.c.2.2 and 2.3) (700)

5)    Increasing obedience and resisting pressure to obey – describe and evaluate factors that make obedience to an authority figure more and less likely using Milgram’s variations of his (1963) electric shocks experiment and evaluate research that demonstrates Independent behaviour  (a.c.3.1 and 3.2) (700)

Task 2

 

Work individually and Produce a poster titled ‘Social Facilitation’ that includes the effect of audiences, co-action, roles and groups. Include the psychological research.
